Legal Aid Service of Northeastern Minnesota receives generous financial support from a broad spectrum of funding providers. In addition to our state, federal and local government funding, we have received long-term support from numerous foundations, United Ways, and other charitable organizations.
Despite this generous support from so many sources, the need for legal services far outstrips our ability to provide it.
We are forced to turn away more and more people who ask us for help because we don’t have the resources to serve them.
Each of these people are in a legal crisis when they call for help, and our staff must decide who to serve based on such criteria as who is in the most immediate danger without legal help and/or which family will become homeless first without representation.
You can provide access to justice to someone who desperately needs our help.

Legal Aid Service of Northeastern Minnesota (LASNEM) is funded in part by the Legal Services Corporation (LSC). As a condition of the funding it receives from LSC, it is restricted from engaging in certain activities in all of its legal work – including work supported by other funding sources. LASNEM may not expend any funds for any activity prohibited by the Legal Services Corporation Act, 42 U.S.C. 2996 et seq. or Public Law 104-134. Public Law 104-134 s504(d) requires that notice of these restrictions be given to all funders of programs funded by the Legal Services Corporation.
